I love the idea of mobilizing donors to support local non-profits. In the past I have resisted working through Community Foundation of Sonoma because of the high fees. Perhaps this time CFS is waiving its customary fees. It would be useful to know how much CFS charges.
From my perspective, while CFS is technically a non profit, it earns the kind of money that many for-profits would envy. That’s because it gets ongoing fees that are a percentage of the millions of dollars that have been donated that are awaiting distribution to charities. I understand they provide a host of services to clients and they are nice people but last time I checked they were charging two or three times the fees of Vanguard and Fidelity DAFs.
The pros and cons of donor advised funds are well documented. If anyone is interested, please do a quick google search.
Great idea! Great team! Thank you.
Excited to join and support this project!
Bravo to this group….great idea. I thank you for creating this organization.
