Analy Class of 2025: "Are you ready?"
This year's 330 graduates were recognized as "collaborative, resilient, and adaptable."
The graduation ceremony for 330 students of the Analy Class of 2025 was held on the athletic field on campus on Thursday evening. It was a typically chilly Sebastopol evening for the two-hour program. Angelita Gutierrez, Antonio Gutierrez and Jesus Martinez Díaz were the Honor Commencement Speakers. Teacher Brian Miller gave a talk on looking for the “Bright Spots” every day.
The Analy Student Band and Orchestra played Pomp and Circumstance as members of the class filed in.
Speech by Principal Chuck Wade: “Are You Ready?”
Board of Trustees, Superintendent Meredith, staff, graduates, and families—welcome to the Class of 2025 Analy High School Commencement Ceremony!
It is my tremendous honor to present this graduating class to our community and school board for acceptance. I couldn’t be more proud of them.
The class of 2025 has done it all:
This class has been represented on multiple championship teams—and not just sports teams—though I do feel I have to give a shout out to Boy’s track!—but also on a state champion grapevine pruning team, and an academic world quest team that won regionals and represented us at the national finals in Washington—among many others.
This class has earned more early college credit than any other graduating class at Analy High School. It has also participated in more official internships than any previous class, with students finding placements at Sebastopol City Hall, Corrective Exercise and Restoration, Chroma Diverse, Sebastopol Senior Center, Ghilotti Construction, The Neighbors Kid auto mechanic, LINK Creative, to name just a few of our amazing community partners.
To anyone who attended our recent Senior Awards Night, you already know this: the Class of 2025 is collaborative, resilient, and adaptable. Over and over again, they’ve shown the ability to face uncertainty with creativity and to lean on each other to get through tough times. Class of 2025—we are so proud of you!
We are also incredibly proud of the staff that has supported them during their time here. This year, we say goodbye to a few of those exceptional team members who are retiring after years of dedication to their students, their colleagues, and our school community.
Brigitte DeLeon is heading into a well-earned retirement after 20 years of dedicated service to our district. While we’re thrilled for her, we’ll miss her deeply. In every interaction, Brigitte has been a cheerful problem-solver, bringing wisdom, patience, and calm to even the busiest days. She’s handled high-pressure deadlines with grace, always keeping students and our school community at the center. Whether working with staff, students, or donors, she’s shown unwavering professionalism and care. Her leadership in student scholarships and awards has been especially impactful, turning numbers into real opportunities and aligning resources with our core values. Strategic and forward-thinking, she’s helped shape systems that serve our students well.
For me personally, Brigitte has been a steady, trusted partner—always looking for ways to say yes. Her presence will be profoundly missed. Brigitte, thank you for everything. You’ve made an enormous and lasting impact, and while we’ll miss you, we hope this next chapter is filled with all the joy and relaxation you deserve.
Ellen Houlemard has been, in every sense, a Swiss army knife for our school. Over the years, she has stepped up to teach everything from non-college prep English to AP Lang, Honors English, Culinary, and even World History. Ellen has never hesitated to adapt or to fill in when needed—even giving up a well-earned part-time release to support the school when no one else could. That kind of selflessness is rare.
But Ellen didn’t just say yes—she brought deep thought and intention to her work. She was always reading new curriculum, thinking critically about instruction, and engaging with her colleagues. Her easygoing, thoughtful presence made her a valued collaborator in any room. Her students knew her as a kind, practical, and endlessly patient teacher—especially those spirited sophomores who walked into her room in August and left it in May a little more mature and a lot more confident. Ellen, your warmth, insight, and integrity will be deeply missed.
Julie Kellogg has taught math at Analy for the past seven years, and while her departure leaves a notable gap in our staff we want to celebrate her with deep gratitude. Julie’s patience and kindness have had a lasting impact on students who learned to believe in themselves through her support. She inspired a love of learning, built critical thinking skills, and created a classroom environment where students felt safe to grow and take on challenges. Julie, your steady presence, thoughtful instruction, and genuine care for your students have helped shape the lives of hundreds of young people. We thank you for your remarkable service.
Kate Oitzinger is another incredible educator retiring this year. Kate is a scientist, a mentor, and an environmentalist through and through. She originally built a strong Environmental Science program at El Molino, and later stepped into the Physics role here at Analy—while still bringing her passion to our AP Environmental Science classes and student clubs. Kate has been one of the district’s most valuable utility players—holding high-need science credentials and using them with excellence and commitment. But her true legacy is the impact she’s had on our community and our planet. She has inspired thousands of students to care deeply about the environment and take action to protect it. Whether it was classroom projects or district-wide sustainability efforts, Kate has been a driving force for good.
As she sails into retirement—literally, we hear—Kate leaves behind a legacy of stewardship, mentorship, and hope. Thank you, Kate, for everything you’ve done for our students and our Earth.
Let’s offer our heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to Brigitte, Ellen, Julie, and Kate. You will be missed—and you leave behind a stronger school because of your work.
And now, to our graduates:
One of the things I love most about high school is the truly amazing transformation that happens to our students between the time that they come to us in the fall of their freshman year, and four years later when they leave us as graduates. Seniors, do you remember yourselves as freshmen? It’s not just you that was different: the whole world was emerging from a pandemic, Chat GPT wasn’t a thing yet, and our president was…. Oh, wait…I guess not everything has changed.
But you, each of you, have changed enormously. It can be hard to know how well the new skills and aptitudes that you have developed will serve you. And, today marks a major milestone. You’re leaving high school and preparing for the unknown road ahead.
But are you ready?
That’s a tricky question. The truth is, no one can say exactly what the world will look like in five or ten years. Change is rapid—technologies emerge overnight, industries shift, and the challenges we face as a society are increasingly complex.
But here’s what we can say with confidence: you, the Class of 2025, have already demonstrated the very qualities that the future demands.
When we look at your YouthTruth survey data, it’s clear: you are collaborators. You ranked in the top quartile of seniors statewide when asked how often you choose to work with others—even when your teacher doesn’t require it. That’s not just a statistic; that’s a habit of mind. That’s initiative, empathy, and shared purpose in action.
You’re also remarkably resilient. You started high school still reeling from a global pandemic. For many of you, ninth grade was your first full year back in person—and you had to relearn how to navigate friendships, face-to-face communication, and academic life. But you didn’t just recover—you rebuilt.
And perhaps most impressively, you haven’t settled for how things have always been done. You’ve pushed for new learning experiences, stepping into more early college coursework and more real-world internships than any class before you. You’ve actively sought out new challenges and new environments, and you’ve done so with curiosity and courage.
So yes, the world is changing. But so are you—and you’ve already shown that you can adapt, connect, create, and persist. Those aren’t just future-ready skills. They’re now-ready skills. And you’ve got them.
So, Class of 2025—I'll ask again: Are you ready?
Are you ready to collaborate and problem-solve?
Are you ready to keep learning, even when you don’t have all the answers?
Are you ready to get back up when things don’t go your way?
Are you ready to ask for help—and to offer it in return?
Because if you’re ready to do those things, you’re ready for anything.
On behalf of the faculty and administration, we can’t wait to see what you build, challenge, and transform next. You’ve already shown the courage to try, the grit to persist, and the heart to lift others as you go. Wherever your path leads, we know you’ll meet it with curiosity, collaboration, and purpose.
Superintendent Meredith, they are ready. I am proud to present the Analy High School Class of 2025 for your acceptance.

Nice piece here! Thanks Dale for covering this--congrats to Analy Class of 2025!
Any information available on what next year brings for the grads? Years ago there was a list. in the Analy H.S. library of where the seniors had been accepted - for those continuing their education.
