Candidate Profile: Dennis Colthurst
Longtime resident and former Sebastopol police officer Dennis Colthurst says he's ready to take on the big issues facing Sebastopol today
My name is Dennis Colthurst, and I am a candidate for the Sebastopol City Council.
I have lived in Sebastopol for nearly 45 years.
I was honored to be able to serve with the Sebastopol Police Department for 34 years. During that time, I served as a general patrol officer, as well as criminal and forensic investigator.
I am a good listener.
There are several big issues currently demanding attention:
Larry McLaughlin, our city manager and city attorney, has announced his retirement. Fire Chief Braga will retire on December 31, 2022.
A proposal to consolidate our fire department with the Gold Ridge Fire District is being considered. I honor and support the firefighters of the Sebastopol Fire Department. Any merger of this nature must be critically examined. We must listen carefully, especially to the voices of our firefighters.
Some of our downtown businesses have closed. Business development must be undertaken to restore vitality to our business district.
The unhoused of our community need attention and a method of transitioning to homes.
All the above are on the table now.
If elected, I will take these issues on, as well as other matters that will certainly arise.
I will serve my community with steadfast dedication.
I ask for your vote on November 8, 2022.
Respectfully,
Dennis Colthurst
Thank you for your statement Dennis. You have my vote!
