Correction: Vote on surveillance ordinance amendments was unanimous
Mayor Jill McLewis did indeed vote for the amendments to the ordinance
In our just-published piece on Sebastopol’s Surveillance Ordinance, I mistakenly wrote that Mayor Jill McLewis did not vote for the amendments to the ordinance. I obviously misremembered that. Although she expressed disappointment that the motion did not include all the amendments suggested by City Attorney Alex Mog, she did indeed vote for the two amendments that would allow the police to use private surveillance camera footage in criminal investigations.
Apologies to the mayor for this oversight, and thanks to the Sebastopol Times reader, who comments under the name “economist,” for pointing out that error.
