Double Dose of Police Logs, Oct. 2-15
Excerpts from the Sebastopol Police Department daily crime log, plus unsubstantiated sexual assault reports, and an upcoming meeting on bean bag shotguns
About those recent sexual assault reports
Over the last few weeks, you may have noticed several reports of sexual assault in the police logs. According to Police Chief Ron Nelson, “There is no connection regarding the assaults. Several of them were reported by a woman who came into town recently and reported several separate incidents to us and to Santa Rosa PD. She suffers from mental illness, and we are required to document and investigate them, but we did not find any corroborating evidence to even remotely substantiate her claims. I can assure you that the public's safety is not endangered in any way, nor is there some sort of serial rapist or a person out in the community randomly committing sexual assaults.”
Meeting on bean bag shotguns
Chief Nelson also asked that we pass along this information on an upcoming meeting: “I would like to notify the community of an upcoming meeting on Oct. 23 at the Sebastopol Youth Annex, 425 Morris St., from 5-6 pm. It is regarding our Governing Body Specific Equipment ordinance which requires us to hold a public meeting and display of any equipment we currently have available for use. We will have our only piece of authorized equipment on display, which are "bean bag" shotguns and the munitions which are fired from them, and will be available for questions.”
