We have changed the way we are doing Police Logs. The Sebastopol Police Department now uses a reporting system called CitizenRIMS, which has a Media Bulletin section that is updated weekly. Instead of publishing the media bulletin in its entirety, we download the data and process it using AI to format it and weed out boring entries like parking tickets and false alarms. We carefully review the results to make sure they match up to the original source.

We’re excited about these new logs. We think they provide a fuller, more interesting picture of what’s going on around town. If you see any issues or have any questions, please let us know.

Officers responded to a wide range of calls at the end of February, including assaults, road rage incidents, DUI arrests, burglary, disturbances, fraud reports, welfare checks and multiple traffic-related incidents.

Monday, Feb. 16

7:41 am – Hit-and-Run (Murphy Ave.)
A 2016 black Mazda sustained damage to its driver’s front tire in a collision reported the following morning.
10:33 Vandalism (Bodega Ave.)
A resident reported that a man was banging on the front door, causing damage.
1: 06 PM – Vandalism (Downtown Plaza)
Plants dug up in the Plaza –Admonished.
3:03 PM – Meet the Citizen (Laguna Park Way) Unhoused person expressed concerns about death threats from another unhoused subject – Completed.
3:54 PM – Parking Violation (Florence Ave.) Vehicle parked 7–8 days – Completed.
Suspicious Circumstances (Brookhaven Ct.)
A caller reported a subject attempting to open a front door earlier in the evening. Officers responded; the subject was gone on arrival.
10: 37 PM – Prowler (Dufranc Ave.)
A resident confronted a man near on their property wearing gray rain gear. The man, who said he was looking for his cat, fled prior to officer arrival.

Tuesday, Feb. 17

6:34 AM – Coroner Case (Gravenstein Hwy S.)
Officers responded to a “code blue” call and transferred the case to Redcom. A report was taken.
9:44 AM – Suspicious Person (Healdsburg Ave.)
Man yelling and cursing at people.
12:29 PM – Welfare Check (Covert Lane)
Elderly female standing in the rain for hours, appears confused. Unable to Locate.
3:01 PM – Petty Theft (Sebastopol Ave.)
Total losses exceeded $100. (Police documented thefts occurring on multiple dates in late January and early February.)
3:18 PM – Hit-and-Run (Gravenstein Hwy S.)
Reporting party saw a Gray Prius struck at this location, but no victim has called in.
9:04 PM – Warrant Arrest (Healdsburg Ave.)
An officer contacted a subject and made an arrest on an outstanding warrant.
9:38 PM – Suspicious Circumstances (N High St)
Man moved a table and box from the rear of the library, is now in the under-garage going through boxes. Unable to Locate.

Wednesday, Feb. 18

Warrant Arrest (Laguna Park Way)
Officers responded to a medical request. During contact, police determined the subject had an outstanding warrant and made an arrest.
7:13 AM – Animal Complaint (Sebastopol Ave.)
A caller reported that someone threw a puppy out of a house, about 12 feet, at 2 am, then laughed about it. The case was referred to Animal Services.
11:00 AM – 72-Hour Parking Ordinance (Gravenstein Hwy N)
Truck with expired tags has been there for four weeks.

Junk trailer parked in the same spot for multiple days.
3:03 PM – Traffic Accident – No Injuries (Bodega Ave./Florence Ave.)

Thursday, Feb. 19

9:19 AM – Verbal Disturbance (N. High St.)
A male subject was reported yelling at a female business owner for moving his property. Officers responded and completed the call.
10:29 PM – Foot Patrol Arrest (Morris St.)
While conducting foot patrol near the pump house area, officers made an arrest.
1:34 PM – Suspicious Vehicle (Tocchini St.)
RV parked in the same location for a while now with aggressive dogs. Residents on the other side of the fence are nervous to walk the path to the shopping center.
3:25 pm – Warrant Arrest (Pitt /Keating Ave.)
An officer-initiated contact resulted in an arrest on a warrant.

Individual reported that they stole a flag 30 years ago from a Santa Rosa location.

Male with facial hair in front of store is yelling and screaming.

A large shepherd dog was reported loose in the neighborhood.

Friday, Feb. 20

10:20 AM – Possible Identity Theft (Beattie Ln.)
A resident reported discovering two Verizon accounts linked to their Social Security number, including an active account charging $220 to a family member’s bank account.
12:57 PM – Traffic Hazard (S Main St / Bodega) Protestors standing in the middle of the street with their signs – Admonished.
1:45 PM – Suspicious Person (S Main St.)
Person yelling at protestors. Moved Along.
2:44 PM – Fight (N. Main St.)
Officers responded to a reported physical altercation downtown.
3:13 PM – Vandalism – Graffiti (Litchfield Ave.)
Juveniles were reported tagging an AT&T utility box on private property. A report was taken.

A silver Honda CRV was reported driving recklessly, with juveniles riding in the rear hatch area. The driver was admonished.

Saturday, Feb. 21

1:16 PM – Burglary – Auto (Burnett St.)
A vehicle parked facing South Main Street across from the UPS store was reportedly entered between 9 a.m. and noon. Items taken included an Eddie Bauer clip wallet, $1 coin, coins from ash tray, a trophy on the dashboard, and coffee cup with coffee.
4:30 PM – City Parking Ordinance (N. Gravenstein Hwy.)
Junk trailer parked in the same spot for multiple days. (Gone on arrival.)
4:50 PM – Parking Violation (McKinley St.)
Black Chevy sedan was parked over the 4-hour limit at the charging station. Display revealed that the vehicle has been plugged in for 6 hours. Parking citation.

A driver reportedly ran a red light at Bloomfield Road and drove onto the shoulder.

A business reported concern after a customer placed an order and failed to return, sounding distressed on the phone.

Male with belongings is sleeping inside the bus stop at night. Reporting party requests that the person’s info be passed along to the HEART rep and the HEART rep’s info given to the subject. Checks OK.

A male subject wearing a beanie and carrying a blanket was reported yelling and screaming at people walking through the farmers’ market.

Person yelling at the bus stop. Completed.
11:26 AM – Disturbance – Noise (Valentine Ave.)
A caller complained that the noise from a nearby soccer game exceeded city ordinance levels.

A solo vehicle collision was reported with possible occupants trapped inside. A report was taken.

A white opal pendant on a silver chain, reportedly lost months ago, was documented.
