Easter egg hunts and Easter Services in Sebastopol this weekend
Celebrate new life this spring with Easter eggs and, uh, Jesus
It’s the spring holiday season! There are flowers everywhere around town.
Jewish Passover started yesterday, Wednesday, April 1, and will run through Thursday, April 9.
The pagans already did their thing on Spring Equinox in March.
But most of the action this weekend is around Easter. There will be Easter Egg hunts for kids around town, including:
The traditional Easter Egg hunt in Ives Park on Saturday, April 4, at 10 am sharp. (Sponsored by Kiwanis)
A new Easter celebration at the Barlow, Sunday, April 5, 11 am to 2 pm. Easter egg hunt for kids under 12 starts at 11:30 am.
Forestville Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4, at 10 am sharp, in Youth Park, 6935 Mirabel Road, Forestville

Community Church of Sebastopol

Maundy Thursday Service, on April 2, 6:30 pm, in the sanctuary with ritual Washing of Feet, Holy Communion, special Choral Anthem, and Tenebrae readings (Tenebrae=shadows). All ages welcome.
Good Friday Vigil on April 3, Noon – 3 pm, in the Chapel with silence, readings, and stations of the cross. Come for any portion.
Easter Services on April 5 are for people of all ages:
Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 am in the Fountain Courtyard for all ages
Easter Worship Service at 10 am in the sanctuary with Handbell Ensemble, Chancel Choir, Trumpets, Easter Lilies, and Sermon.

Good Friday, April 3
Stations of the Cross: 12 noon. This practice imitates what was done in Jerusalem as pilgrims offered prayers at various sites along the path walked by Jesus carrying the cross to Golgotha.
Good Friday Service: 6:30 pm. A service of readings, reflection and solemn prayer in a darkened sanctuary with a bare altar.
Easter, Sunday, April 5
Easter Vigil: 6 am in the outdoor sacred space. An ancient service of darkness, light, fire, water, song, scripture, poetry and holy communion.
Easter Sunday Service: 9:30 am in the outdoor sacred space, followed by an Easter egg hunt and potluck celebration

Good Friday Taize Service, April 3, from 4 to 5 p.m.
Taize worship is a meditative, ecumenical form of Christian prayer characterized by simple, repetitive songs and chants, Scripture readings, periods of profound silence, and candlelight. Led by pianist and cantor Andy Darrow, the service focuses on peace, contemplation, and reconciliation. The spirit of Taize is to foster peace among all people.
