Falling tree damages Sebastopol Area Senior Center

No injuries reported, but roof and porch were damaged

A tree fell on the Sebastopol Area Senior Center this afternoon, damaging the roof and porch and causing an immediate evacuation.

There were no injuries.

“It could have been so much worse,” said Senior Center Director Katie Davis, who said that the bulk of the tree fell between the senior center and a neighboring house.

“It punched a few holes in the roof,” Davis said, “and damaged the front porch, but everyone got out very quickly.”

“They’re putting tarps on the roof now,” she said. “We hope to reopen by Monday, but we’re waiting to get the OK from the fire chief.”
