Flood warning in effect for multiple areas in west county
Flood risk in Guerneville, Forestville and Monte Rio, multiple road closures, and just plain soppy everywhere
We are passing along this flood warning from Soco Emergency Alert.
A Flood Warning has been issued for the Russian River near Guerneville, impacting the communities of Guerneville, Forestville and Monte Rio starting at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, and continuing until further notice. The river is expected to peak at 33.7 feet on Friday night. At 33 feet, flooding will close the intersection of Highway 116 and Drake Road in Guerneville, inundate Willow and Alder Streets in Monte Rio and begin affecting the Mirabel trailer park in Forestville.
A Flood Watch is in effect through Saturday, Nov. 23, until 10 a.m. Urban areas and small streams flooding caused by excessive rainfall in central Sonoma County is expected.
Stay away from the edge of rivers and creeks. River and creeks will have rapidly rising levels, with fast-moving water and debris.
As we navigate through this flood season, it’s important to be prepared and informed. Please be sure to sign up for emergency alerts, have an evacuation plan in place if you're in a low-lying or flood-prone area, check in on your neighbors, and email district5@sonoma-county.org or call 2-1-1 for information about local resources.
