Gas leak repaired across from Park Side School
PG&E was on site for much of the day repairing a leak discovered as part of regular review of gas lines
The eastbound lane on Bodega was closed for several hours today, with a detour, while PG&E fixed a gas leak under the street between Park Side School and Sebastopol Christian Church.
“Every year, across our entire service area, PG&E performs what is called a leak survey. So we patrol all our gas lines and all our gas services just to make sure that everything is running how it’s supposed to,” said Megan McFarland, a marketing and communications representative for Pacific Gas & Electric. “This morning, we were in the Sebastopol area doing our leak survey, and we found a leak on the gas line.”
“When that happens, our protocol is we do not leave the site,” McFarland said. “We send a support crew in immediately, and they make repairs to the leak. And so that's exactly what happened. The reason we don’t leave the site is because we want to take care of it, you know, as soon as possible, so it doesn’t turn into something that’s a bigger deal, right?”
McFarland said the team expected to wrap up the repair by the end of today, though at 4 pm, there was still a large hole in the street and crews were still working.
