West Sonoma County Union High School District has Analy High School and two alternative high schools on the El Molino Campus, Laguna and Academy of Innovative Arts. In addition, there's an independent study program. The District doesn't have elementary or middle schools, which are spread across several other districts in the area.

It appears from these charts that the district has consistently over-estimated ADA for several years. Perhaps the “right sizing” should begin with budget projections? This is reminiscent of a statement from another local district, blaming part of their budget deficit on the loss of “one time funding” during the Covid pandemic. That is, they had apparently continued to project revenues that would include that special funding. What part of “one time” was unclear?

Good coverage. I know Spencer and his mother, Kathy, and have seen him perform in a band locally. His energy, dedication, kind manner and exuberance are qualities students need to experience and emulate. Yay for Spencer! Ken and I are pulling for you.

Is there a way to do a fundraiser every year to help pay for these programs? It's unbelievable how if California was its own country it would be the FIFTH richest country in the world but we can.t seem to find enough money to have robust thriving public schools? The stories I hear from relatives and friends with kids in public school in the Midwest and North East make me drool...

Is the high school budget restricted to Analy or can money be reallocated from other district schools? There are surprising number of publicly funded elementary and middle schools for the school age population in Sebastopol.
