This year was supposed to be another year without presents, and it wasn’t as bad as I had feared. It was actually quite jolly. There were also a few presents exchanged in defiance of the ban.
This year was declared another no present year, alas. But this time it was my daughter who broke the rule and gave me a beautiful piece of Polish pottery, something I’d actually been yearning for. And a friend at church who read my story brought me a gift, which was so sweet. All in all I had a great Christmas this year, brightened all the more by loved ones we hadn’t seen in a while.
We know this Laura, making this a true fiction story. Incorrigible, indeed. Merry Christmas to everyone, including Chris
I consider it “memoir.”
Laura, you're a gem. As a semi-empty nester who likes Christmas but not religion, I really enjoyed your essay.
This is the best story yet! Merry Christmas!
I found this hilarious.
Still laughing.
Thanks.
Sweet - whatever warms the hearth & heart. I’m sure your husband LOVED it!
Merry Christmas!
We stopped giving gifts years ago but we still do Christmas.

What a wonderful writer you are, Laura! We loved this story! Merry Christmas!
And this year?

Never too old to celebrate the meaning of Christ’s mass; love is the reason❤️🎄🎁
