Soon after we posted our story about the police chase down McKinley, we received this answer from the Sebastopol Police Department and the Sebastopol City Manager:
No, the suspect was not hit by the chief’s car or anybody else’s. It was the pole that was hit. The suspect ditched the bike at about that same time and ran away on foot another 250 feet or so before being caught.
And yes, the suspect had an extensive criminal record.
