I attended the Analy Peace Pole dedication and I must say Lawson's report and photos captured the moment in all its facets. Hey, folks, Lawson is an excellent journalist. For the record, I warned him to stay away from a career in journalism unless he was prepared for a life of low financial compensation and unfair affronts. He told me it was too late, that he already was infected with the illness of chasing the truth and fixing the world for the rest of us. Go, Lawson.

Sorry my comment got sent too soon.

I wanted to also thank all involved, most especially the young adults (and the kids with their beautiful poem!). I believe small actions like this can have larger consequences, and ripple effects. I am impressed with the acknowledgment that Peace requires work, and cultivating understanding. What an uplifting article, thank you!

You mean THE TEACHERS planted a peace pole on campus. Kids don't care about world affairs. They care about other kids and themselves. Leftist Teachers need to be fired. They are bad examples for the kids IMO. No pole ever created peace. No pole or sign ever changed the world. We know what it takes to change the world, and Leftists seem to have no idea.

Hey Pat,

Thanks for reading and sharing your point of view. I appreciate your differing perspective on this. However, I do want to clear up your point about where the project came from: the peace pole was actually a student-led project by students in the Interact Club.

While the school board provided the formal approval, they did so following a presentation by the students themselves. The students were in charge of all the planning, fundraising, and work for this project, which is why the focus of this piece (and the unveiling ceremony) was on how dedicated the students were to their community, not on how involved the faculty was.

Thank you for subscribing and offering your point of view!
