Rotary Centennial Celebration
Sebastopol Times had a booth at the Rotary Centennial Celebration last Sunday, which was great fun. Huge, free, fantastic cake by Patisserie Angelica. Beautiful weather, great music all day and a nice turnout. Here’s to another 100 years!

Sebastopol Area Senior Center Volunteer Appreciation event
On Saturday, May 17, the Sebastopol Area Senior Center recognized its many volunteers with a luncheon at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts. About 115 attended the lunch, according to Caitlyn Ryan. “The volunteers are crucial in all areas, with the primary ones being Harvest Café operation, Legacy (has about 150 volunteers!), front desk, and our transportation program.”
Afterwards, the volunteers sat for a great, big group photo. Congratulations to all of you who volunteer.

Folks on Nextdoor have been wondering, “What’s with all the empty shelves at RiteAid?” The answer from a nice lady at the front register: RiteAid in downtown Sebastopol is definitely closing, but they haven’t been given a closing date yet.

9:02 a.m. Violation of pre-trial release (felony) and possession of unlawful paraphernalia (misdemeanor) at Gravenstein Highway South. Suspect arrested.
9:15 p.m. Rape of victim unconscious of the act (felony) at Ragle Avenue South. Pending further investigation.
WEDNESDAY
7:13 a.m. Battery of a spouse or companion and disobeying a court order (misdemeanors) at Sebastopol Avenue. Suspect arrested.
8:41 a.m. Putting a pollutant near waters and violation of probation (misdemeanors) at Petaluma and Abbott avenues. Suspect arrested.
2:15 p.m. Failure to appear in court after promising in writing (misdemeanor) at North Main Street. Suspect arrested.
8:51 p.m. Failure to appear in court after promising in writing (misdemeanor) at Canfield Road. Suspect arrested.
THURSDAY
10:20 a.m. Minor in possession of a tear gas weapon (misdemeanor) at North Main Street. Suspect arrested.
FRIDAY
12:56 p.m. Battery on a person and exhibiting a deadly weapon other than a firearm at Sebastopol Avenue. Referred to District Attorney for review.
9:11 p.m. Inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or companion and false imprisonment with violence (felonies) at Michael Place. Suspect arrested.
SATURDAY
12:55 p.m. Possession of unlawful paraphernalia and disobeying a court order (misdemeanors) at Sebastopol Avenue. Suspect arrested.
9:11 p.m. Assault with a deadly weapon with the possibility of causing great bodily injury (felony) at Morris Street. Pending further investigation.
OTHER POLICE ACTION
The Sebastopol Police Department also recorded 154 events requiring police action during the period, such as lost animals, assisting citizens, parking violations, foot patrol, traffic hazards and reckless driving.
