RoundUp: The follow-up edition
Photos from the Constitution-writing spree, how you can sponsor weed-eating sheep, collecting old—and I mean really old—shirts, and how to donate to Market Day at Burbank Heights and Orchards
Meet the folks who actually hand-wrote the Constitution
On July 4th, we posted a story about Kenna Lee’s project of handwriting the constitution. Her goal was to get people all over west county together to handwrite the entire U.S. Constitution as a way of learning more about it. As these photos from Kenna indicate, it was a huge success.

Sponsor a weed-eating sheep for local parks
In response to our story on sheep grazing in Ragle Park, Sebastopol’s Richard Retecki, wrote us about how you can personally sponsor a weed-eating sheep for Sonoma County Regional Parks.
“Our County Parks Department is really ‘walking the walk’ on climate action with the ‘wooly weeders,’” Retecki wrote. “Turns out we can help! The Sonoma County Parks Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that advocates and raises money for our 60+ fabulous Regional Parks, offers a “Sponsor a Sheep program,” which directly benefits the vegetation control approach described in the Sebastopol Times article. Find details here. And job well done to County Parks’ management and maintenance staff for leading the way on ecologically sound vegetation management techniques in beautiful Sonoma County!”
Beyond “vintage”
This week, after I posted our story about Avalon, the new women’s clothing store and gallery on Main Street, I popped in to see if they’d been mobbed by local CP Shades fans. While I was there, I met CP Shades owners David and Denise Weinstein, who will soon be moving fulltime to Sebastopol.
David thought our article had left out one of the most interesting things in the store: their armoire of 19th and turn-of-the-last-century clothing, like the 19th century men’s linen shirt above.
Denise also noted that I misspelled her daughter’s name—it’s Karima Cammell with two l’s. Karima is a well-known artist, who will be having a gallery opening at Avalon on Oct. 4, 2 pm to 5 pm.
Where to donate to the Burbank Height’s Market Day
Several people who wanted to donate to Market Day at Burbank Heights mentioned that we’d forgotten to include a section telling them how to do so. Here’s the scoop: “If you would like to donate or help, contact Judith Morgan at jem1943@icloud.com. A donor could send a check to 'Burbank Heights and Orchards Senior Produce Market (c/oJudy Morgan), 7777 Bodega Avenue, #A1, Sebastopol, CA 95472. Or a donor could send or take a check payable to ‘Burbank Heights and Orchards Senior Produce Market’ at the Sebastopol Branch of the Redwood Credit Union.”
