Interestingly, this approach is frowned on by daily newspaper reporters— though it is common in the alternative press where I came up. I think readers appreciate getting information from the mouths of the people involved in the story.
Your journalism is my preference as it allows we readers to learn important details involved. The New York Times, for example uses the tag line All The News That’s Fit to Print and wise readers know that implies censorship.
