Thx as always.

But 289.5K (includes benefits) for the police chief in a town of 8k?!? Let’s see, that’s 36 bucks per/resident. Maybe not so bad for the right chief? I guess it’s not just good ice cream that costs so much these days.

Sebastopol is the smallest entity in the state to apply for a Home Key grant. We are the only entity that does not have a dedicated housing authority to manage it. Now we are launching into an EIFD project. Look at examples of EIFD projects presented at the meeting. These projects are taken on by huge cites and entire counties. Small cities like Sebastopol are not doing these kinds of projects. At some point our elected officials need to come to grips with the fact that a good year for a city of 7,000 is one where revenue exceeds expenses, crime is low, fire and police responses are better than average, and we are making progress on repairing our streets, water and sewer infrastructure. Once accomplished, maybe then we can explore an EIFD project with the county.

It would be best if the County takes responsibility for a wholistic plan for the homeless that does not involve making Sebastopol a homeless destination. If the county has an urgent need for an EIFD project in West County they should be leading the effort.

I agree that 289,000 seems like a sweet deal for such a small town. But, It seems that more than one salary will rise. Mary Gourly will also get a 40,000 raise. Did the city citizens vote for a sales tax increase only to see it eaten up with salary bumps???
