Sel was born in Auckland, New Zealand, and moved to San Francisco when he was one year old. He came to Graton in 1951 and married Barbara Ann Schaefer in 1956. They lived in various places in the Bay Area, then in Christchurch, New Zealand from 1967 to 1969, and permanently returned to Graton in 1970. Sel owned and operated Turner’s Automotive in downtown Graton until he retired in 2004.
Sel is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Barbara Turner; his children, Lori Turner-Dolinsek, Kevin Turner and wife Jolina, and Eric Turner; his grandchildren, Shawn Flint, Cody Dolinsek, and Jason, Kyle, and Kimi Turner; and his great grandchildren, Wesley and Graddy Turner. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Sandee Turner and granddaughter Shelby Dolinsek.
Sel died peacefully at home, surrounded by family. At his request, no services will be held.
