Thank you for this informative, helpful article. I'm happy to be living in Sonoma County.
I hope there is some way to let citizens know if ICE is taking actions here against our neighbors and friends. If there's any way we can be a witnessing presence -- or an obstructive one -- I'd like to be part of standing up for neighbors' right to be here.
Sadly, immediately after the publication of this article, it came to our attention via The New York Times that “The Justice Department has ordered U.S. attorneys to investigate and prosecute law enforcement officials in states and cities if they refuse to enforce the Trump administration’s new immigration policies, according to a three-page internal department memo. The move comes as the Homeland Security Department prepares to make targeted raids into cities with high numbers of undocumented immigrants.” We are reaching out to local law enforcement for comment.
I'm not sure why the half a million has to be funneled through non-profits. Wouldn't the administrative costs be lower if the county carried out the initiatives themselves?
And for local support, this is a bilingual hotline:
North Bay Rapid Response Network: Napa, Solano and Sonoma Counties. 24 HOUR HOTLINE: 707-800-4544. Here in Sonoma County we embrace our common humanity.

Sadly, just after

I believe they are offering a Legal Observer training in Sebastopol in the next few weeks.
What about our schools? Does the districts have a policy to protect children?

Please forgive my ignorance on this topic.

Lynda Hopkins is a hero.
Battling evil republicans requires new leadership, to replace that which abdicated responsibility of support for non-millionaires.
