P.S. To City of Sebastopol, I highly recommend NOT investing in Supervisor Hopkins' most recent financial product -- it sounds extraordinarily high risk to me and investing in the financial product might reap temporary short term cash flow benefits bit could seriously threaten the viability of your municipal government and delivery of services if economic turmoil, government de-funding or massive transfer of wealth affected to the billionaire class affects your revenue streams.
I'm not commenting on this article -- it speaks for itself. Instead, I'm telling you all Sebastopol folks what I would look into if I were part of your City leadership (which I am most certainly not!), about the sales tax problem that might require costly legislation to sort out.
As a Forestviĺle 95436 resident of the Atascadero-Green Valley Creek Watershed, I would support Sebastopol City Council in seeking a temporary City-wide one year postponement of the County-wide childcare tax within the City limits of Sebastopol only. So the City can see if the 1% sales tax increase will generate enough revenue to help the City stay solvent and meet commitments and goals.
Additionally, I would propose an M.O.U. with the County that City of Sebastopol will undertake a study of thr adequacy of childcare resources within fhr City limits. Of course I recommend contracting and/or collaborating with River and Coast Child Services for the study.
As your well named (by the PD) Rebel Librarians can attest, County wide funding measures can be problematic these days, sometimes leading to spending flurries thar are a lot of fun for the people in charge but essentially defraud some or some classes of sales tax payers.
The Board of Supervisors is almost entirely unaccountable for anything, and I would rather my extra 1% sales charges tax go directly to City of Sebastopol, which I like a lot, than to hiring incompetent people to manage things that never needed to be managed in the first place spending $$$ cuz it's there.

If only this type of scrutiny and accountability applied to our federal administration, hey?

Nobody asked me, but I answered anyway :)
