Update on the Yanez murder case
Remember Ezra Wallach’s amazing reporting on this story? Here’s an update…

Back in November, in the days after Michael Molland was murdered at his home in west county on Nov. 16, I conducted interviews with the family of the alleged killer, Adrian Yanez, and hotel staff to determine that Yanez had been reported missing by his family the day before the murder — and that he had been examined by law enforcement the morning of the murder.
Since then, I've visited the property where the murder took place and conducted three interviews with Michael Molland's son, daughter and wife of over 50 years. I was able to get key details about the facts of the murder and learn about who Michael Molland, the victim, was as a person. I also learned that the family is suing the Sonoma County and its Sheriff's Department for wrongful death, and got details on that lawsuit, which was filed last week. I will continue following the story as it proceeds.
