At this week’s Sebastopol City Council meeting, hear a presentation about eviction protections from Legal Aid, a public hearing on rent stabilization for mobile homes, and a discussion of the implications of a change to the CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act), regarding "vehicle miles traveled."
Speed Friending
Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2 to 3:30 pm at the Sebastopol Area Senior Center, 167 N. High St., Sebastopol. $15.

Peacetown at Ives Park
Wednesday, Sept. 6, 5 to 7 pm, at Ives Park, 7400 Willow St., Sebastopol. Free.
Closing out the season at Ives Park on September 6th will be local music hero Spencer Burrows and his guitar slinger sidekick, Chris Dilbeck, with a Funk-driven band of high-powered players. Just like the old days, we will have food trucks, beer, wine and other refreshments, along with family fun and those warm Ives Park vibes among the beautiful redwoods.
Sebastopol Carbon Conversations: Bike as Transport
Wednesday, Sept. 6, 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the Sebastopol Grange, 6000 Sebastopol Ave., Sebastopol. Free.
Bicycle infrastructure is essential for supporting safe and abundant bicycle use and achieving significant emission reductions (with additional benefits: improved health, lower congestion, reduced air pollution, reduced fuel consumption, etc.). The city of Sebastopol, along with the county of Sonoma, has just initiated the process of updating the Active Transportation Plan (formerly called the Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan). We’ll learn more about this process and explore a vision of what a bike-friendly Sebastopol could look like.
Learn Social Square Dancing

Chamber Mixer at Luminarium Curated Goods

Fall Risk Assessment and Screening
Friday, Sept. 8, at Sebastopol Area Senior Center, 167 N. High St., Sebastopol. Free.
By appointment only—10 minutes per person. Determine if you are at risk for falling by completing a series of tests. Learn what you can do to lower your risk of having a fall. This is an opportunity to learn what your risk level is for falling from a team of health professionals. You can prevent a serious health setback by having the risk assessment and following recommendations post-assessment. Call the Senior Center at 707-829-2440 to have a telephone screening and then we would schedule your 10-minute assessment on September 8. After the assessment, you will receive recommendations for next steps. Limited to 12 appointments, so call now.
Art Expressions Reception

Meet the artists of Art Expressions, an exhibit of multimedia collage and acrylic paintings at the Sebastopol Library. Art from Joy Dellas, Barbara Goodman, and Denise Suzuki. Refreshments will be provided.
Fall Compost Give Away
Saturday, Sept. 9, 9 am to noon, at the Sebastopol Youth Annex, 425 Morris St., Sebastopol. Free.
This free organic compost event is organized by the Sebastopol Climate Action Committee. Residents from the Sebastopol area are invited to come between 9 am and noon to load compost into their own vehicle. Please bring your own shovel, gloves and containers/truck. (Some bags will be available for those that need them.) Approximately a half cubic yard per household. Compost will be available until the pile is gone. Please ask volunteers for help if you are in need of assistance shoveling and loading your compost.
PeaceRoots Alliance Summer Fest Fundraiser 2023

The annual PeaceRoots Summer Fest fundraiser is coming up on Sept. 9, from 12 to 8 pm at Ives Park in Sebastopol. Proceeds from the event go toward local and global causes, including food banks, children’s education, food for kids, garden projects, quilt donations, and more. It will be a fun day of live music, food, drinks, and prizes, so don’t miss it! PeaceRoots Alliance was formed in the aftermath of 9/11 by current and former members of pioneering intentional community The Farm, and has actively supported initiatives that align with their values since 2001. Opening Reception for Sonoma County Landscape paintings by Charles Beck
