Inspired by Johann Hari's Stolen Focus: Why You Can’t Pay Attention - and How to Think Deeply Again and Nir Eyal's Indistractable, facilitator Laura Hagar Rush will host three one-hour sessions at the Sebastopol Library. We’ll discuss solutions to reclaiming our focus and then read silently for 45 minutes in a phone-free environment. Home Gardeners Produce Exchange/Making Kombucha Class

Come at 5 pm to exchange or donate plant starts, seeds and produce. Stay for a demonstration at 6 pm by Master Food Preservers on making Kombucha with fruit.
Fall Lecture Series: Movement and Osteoporosis
Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2:30 pm to 4 pm at the Sebastopol Area Senior Center, 167 N. High St., Sebastopol. Free.
Yoga instructor Dana David will discuss posture, exercise and activities of daily living and how they can help with osteoporosis.
Sebastopol Grange Harvest Social
Thursday, Oct. 12, 5:30 to 8 pm at the Sebastopol Grange, 6000 Sebastopol Ave. (Hwy. 12), Sebastopol. $10 and up (donation).
The folks at the Sebastopol Grange are celebrating 125 years of gathering! There will be live music, a pie auction, food for snacking, beverages available by donation and a silent art auction. Funds go toward the upkeep of the grange hall! Purchase your tickets here.
Graton Community Club Fall Flower Show
Friday, Oct. 13, 9 am to 4 pm at the Graton Community Club, 8996 Graton Road, Graton. Free.
The Graton Community Club's fall flower show theme is “Spook-Tacular,” and you will be treated to wonderful floral displays, depicting Halloween and the Fall harvest. There will be a huge plant sale, including succulents, perennials, drought-tolerant plants, bee and butterfly plants. Also available are handmade crafts and novelties, recycled treasures, a raffle of local products, and garden art. A $15 lunch is served both days from 11 am to 2 pm, with coffee, tea and desserts available all day. Live music. This event benefits a scholarship program for local JC students and a building capital campaign to preserve our historic club house.
Harvest and Hops Party at Region
Friday, Oct. 13 from 6 to 8 pm at Region, 180 Morris St., Sebastopol. $30.
Calling all Wine AND Beer lovers – have you ever heard the phrase “It takes good beer to make really good wine”? It’s a very common phrase amongst vineyard and cellar wine making teams. At harvest time, crews are working around the clock to get the grapes picked and into production. To celebrate this, Region will share both of these beverages with you for a fun celebration of Harvest.

Hallberg Butterfly Garden’s fall plant sale is happening this weekend and next – all by appointment due to parking restrictions. Hallberg focuses on California native plants suited to support our local pollinators, especially butterflies & moths. A few examples of plants for sale are foothill penstemon, dutchman’s pipevine, Ca lilac, clematis, fremontia, yerba santa, silver lupine, red flowering currant, native bunch grasses, and much more. Knowledgeable staff can help you with your garden questions. After finishing your appointment at the nursery, feel free to take a self-guided tour of the garden. Fall Organic Compost Give Away
Saturday, Oct. 14, 9 am to 12 pm, Sebastopol Youth Annex, 425 Morris St., Sebastopol. Free.
This free organic compost event is organized by the Sebastopol Climate Action Committee. Residents from the Sebastopol area are invited to come and load compost into their own vehicle. Please bring your own shovel, gloves and containers/truck (Some bags will be available for those that need them.) Approximately 1/2 cubic yard per household. Compost will be available until the pile is gone. Please ask volunteers for help if you are in need of assistance shoveling and loading your compost.

Pet Portrait Collage Workshop

Come to this class led by San Francisco collage artist Samuel Price. The class has a two-part format: a four-hour, live, in-person instruction and practice of making a collage portrait of your pet, followed by a two-hour weekend Zoom call for feedback and post-instruction on the students’ individual pet portrait projects.
