Vermeer: The Greatest Exhibition
Tuesdays, May 16 and June 6, 1 pm at the Rialto Cinemas, 6868 McKinley St., Sebastopol. $17.
With loans from across the world, this major retrospective will bring together Vermeer’s most famous masterpieces including Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Geographer, and many more. This film invites audiences to a private view of the exhibition, accompanied by the director of the Rijksmuseum and the curator of the show. Learn about Vermeer’s artistry, his artistic choices and motivations for his compositions, as well as the creative process behind his paintings. Get tickets.
Friends of Sebastopol Library Spring Book Sale
Wednesday to Saturday, May 17-20, at Sebastopol Regional Library, 7140 Bodega Ave., Sebastopol. Free.
The Friends of Sebastopol Library Spring Book Sale features donated used books, DVDs, CDs, collectibles, sheet music and more for adults, children and teens. Most books are bargain-priced at $1, even the newest fiction. Healthcare Lecture: Common Neurological Conditions in Seniors and Balance
Wednesday, May 17, at 2:30 to 3:30 pm at Sebastopol Area Senior Center, 167 N. High St., Sebastopol. Free.
This lecture addresses common neurological disorders in the senior population and how they potentially affect balance. It will include Parkinson’s Disease, stroke, dementia and peripheral neuropathy, as well as other conditions. It will further the understanding of how these conditions can create balance challenges and how those challenges can be addressed.
Poetry and Printing Workshop: At the Case
Wednesday, May 17, from 6 to 9 pm at North Bay Letterpress Arts, 925 Gravenstein Hwy. South, Sebastopol. $75 (scholarships available).
In this evening workshop we will compose 3-4 poems spontaneously, at the case. Learn and exercise the basics of typesetting, workshop your poetry with other students, and take home proofs of your pieces to share with friends and family. In June, each student will receive 10 copies of a collaborative chapbooks featuring their work inside. Reserve your spot.

Mushroom cultivation classes at a mushroom farm in Sebastopol, where the farmers grow Lion's Mane and other culinary mushrooms for Sonoma County and beyond. All who want to learn about mushrooms, farming and cultivating fungi and plant medicine are welcome. Get tickets.
Making a Twined Juncus Basket with Charlie Kennard
Saturday, May 20, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm at Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation, 900 Sanford Road, Santa Rosa. $120.
Spend a day working with your hands in the peaceful setting of the Laguna Environmental Center. Using a rush commonly found in Bay Area freshwater wetlands, make close- or open-twined baskets. Experienced students may make an Italian-style curd-draining basket, and even use it the same day. Participants must bring: scissors, water bowl, spray bottle, small diagonal wire clippers, lunch. Art at the Source Preview Exhibit & Reception

Art at the Source Preview Exhibit runs May 20-June 11, with an opening reception this week on May 20. On display will be one piece of art from each of the 116 Art at the Source artists. The Art at the Source Open Studios event happens the first two weekends in June.
Graton Fire Pancake Breakfast
Sunday, May 21, at 7 am to 12 pm at the Graton Fire Department, 3750 Gravenstein Hwy North, Sebastopol. $5 – $8
The Graton Firefighters will hold their annual pancake breakfast at the Graton Fire Station from 7 a.m. to noon on Sunday, May 21. The pancake breakfast is their one and only fundraiser to support their volunteer firefighters. Over the years, it has become one of the biggest fire department breakfasts in Sonoma County.
“Languages of the Heart” – By Heart from the Heart – with Doug von Koss

Laura, I really like what you folks have been doing with the Times. For one thing there is a constant stream of items, instead of waiting a week, and two you have everything organized well.
