Winter Session: Introduction to Ceramics for Teens

In this introductory class, you will learn how to throw cylinders, cups and bowls on the potter's wheel; in addition, you will learn the most ancient pottery-making techniques of slab construction and coil building, as well as surface decoration and glaze application. Wine Country Rug Hookers Art Reception
Saturday, Jan. 14, 4 to 6 pm, at the Sebastopol Regional Library, 7140 Bodega Ave, Sebastopol
Meet the artists of this month's art show in the library forum room. The Wine Country Rug Hookers is a chapter of the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists. The first hooked rugs appeared in Canada and New England in the late 1700s to early 1800s. The craft uses a hand hook, much like a crochet hook, to form a looped pile of a carpet or "mat" from fabric strips or yarn on a wide weave base. Today, rug hooking has become a fiber art.
