San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus presents Fabulous and Forbidden Broadway on Saturday, Oct. 1
Color Mixing and Ten Strokes
Tuesday, Sept. 27, 10 am to 2 pm, at Sebastopol Center for the Arts, 282 High St., Sebastopol
In this class, the instructor will paint with oils in just three colors and white as a demonstration of color mixing techniques. We will also discuss the color wheel, intensity of color and warm and cool colors. The second part of the class would be to paint an object such as a piece of fruit or vegetable with ten strokes of paint. We will continue to do as many pieces as time would permit. Cost: $60

The 46th Annual Community Awards is here. Each year your Chamber of Commerce presents The Annual Community Awards. Winners are nominated, voted on and selected by the local community. Categories include: Citizen of the year, Business of the year, Volunteer of the year and much more. This heartfelt gathering packs the room, and is a good time had for all. Come to one of the Chamber’s best events of the year.

A Botanical Evening Out
Thursday Sept 29, 2022 5:30 pm at the Vitality Center, 6914 Sebastopol Ave., Sebastopol. Cost: $90
Explore and create with plants in downtown Sebastopol on Thursday, September 29th at The Vitality Center from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Choose a top or silk bandanna to botanically print one-of-a-kind creations. A variety of garden flowers, roots, an insect (cochineal) and more will be available. We will naturally dye small reusable grocery bags too! Sip on tea or rosé and create the evening away. $90 per participant. Materials, libations and light fare provided.

Mend & Befriend at the Sebastopol Grange
Friday, Sept. 30, 4:30 pm at the Sebastopol Grange, 6000 Sebastopol Ave., Hwy. 12, Sebastopol. Free.
Build community and new friendships through sharing, mending, and learning. Bring clothes or fabric items that need repair and also sewing supplies if you have any. We can help each other learn mending techniques both basic and decorative like embroidery and Sashiko: The Japanese Art of Mending Fabric with Beautiful Stitches. You can also bring clean clothing or fabric for a clothing and fabric swap.
The Moors by Jen Silverman at Main Stage West
Opening night: Sept. 30, 8 pm, at Main Stage West, 104 N. Main St., Sebastopol
Two sisters and a dog live out their lives on the bleak English moors, dreaming of love and power. The arrival of a hapless governess and a moor-hen set all three on a strange and dangerous path. The Moors is a dark comedy about love, desperation, and visibility.
Fall Birdwatching at the Laguna
Saturday, Oct. 1, 8:30 to 11:30 am at the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation, 900 Sanford Road, Santa Rosa (just east of Sebastopol out High School Road)
Join Teresa and Miles Tuffli for a fall birding walk exploring the Laguna de Santa Rosa Trail. We’ll slowly meander along the mostly flat trail as it winds through open oak savannah, grasslands, riparian woodlands, marshes, and perhaps a pond if time allows. Fall is a terrific time to visit the Laguna — we’ll be on the lookout for a variety of birds who make the area their home for the fall and winter months. All levels of birding experience are welcome! There is no charge for this event, but donations are welcome.

Sonoma County Art Trails
Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 1-2, 10 am to 5 pm, at studios throughout Sonoma County
This is the second weekend of Art Trails. This year 117 professional artists open their art studios for two weekends this fall and invite you to EXPLORE Sonoma County, ENGAGE with artists in their own studios and COLLECT beautiful art. Come see the preview exhibition at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts gallery, where you can see one piece of art for every artist participating in Art Trails. The gallery is open every Thurs.-Fri., 10 am to 4 pm and Sat.-Sun., 10 am to 5 pm at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts, 282 S. High St., Sebastopol.

Docent Tour at Hidden Forest Botanical Reserve
Saturday, Oct. 1, 10 am at Hidden Forest Nursery, 3970 Azalea Lane, Sebastopol. $10-$20
Take a guided walk with a horticulturist through the 7.5 acre Hidden Forest botanical reserve. Walk through magnificent rare trees and wondrous flowering plants on your way to see a spring-fed pond, a year-round creek, and a pre-historic wetland.

San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus: Fabulous and Forbidden Broadway
Saturday, Oct. 1, 7:30 pm, at the Sebastopol Community Cultural Center, 390 Morris St., Sebastopol
This hilarious and heart-stopping Broadway-themed concert is performed by the Chorus’ beloved HomoPhonics and The Lollipop Guild. You will delight in lush vocal arrangements of Broadway classics and contemporary favorites, including Les Misérables, The Lion King, Wicked, Avenue Q, Dear Evan Hansen, and many more. This production is the first time that the Tony Award-winning musical revue will be performed by a gay men’s chorus!
