Sebastopol City Council Meeting
Tuesday, May 2, 6 pm at the Youth Annex, 425 Morris St., Sebastopol or on Zoom.
Hear the annual report on Ives Pool and another discussion of a resolution to support non-violent activists who attempt to expose the conditions of animals in factory farms. There will also be a discussion on sponsorship requests from the Chamber of Commerce (Apple Blossom Festival) and the Sebastopol Library (mobile showers for the homeless). May Session: Intro to Peaceful Pottery
Wednesdays, May 3 to 24, 6 pm to 8:30 pm at Sebastopol Center for the Arts, 282 S. High St., Sebastopol. $210.
This is a great class for those who want to enjoy building something with their own hands and experience the personal benefits of working with clay. Instruction will cover the basics of wheel throwing, hand-building (slab, coil, freeform), and glazing techniques. Students will have unstructured time to work on, fire, and glaze their own pottery to take home. A goal of this course is to familiarize students with how clay rooms work and why they’re fun places to be. Ages 16 and up. All levels welcome (beginner to advanced). Reserve your spot.
Sebastopol Carbon Conversations

Climate education continues to evolve. Most schools are still trying to figure out how best to include Climate Change and Climate Action as part of the regular curriculum. Some continue to ignore it completely. At this session, we’ll hear from local educators and students about actual Climate projects and activities emerging on local campuses. Reserve your spot.
Chimera First Friday

At our First Friday events we open our doors to let you check out what we are all about. Stop by to meet your local community of makers, get a tour of our facility, enjoy some fine libations and food, and hear some great local music. You can also have some fun with our hands-on activities and live demonstrations. Admission, demonstrations, tours and music are all free. Beer, wine and food are offered at a modest price.
Celebrate World Labyrinth Day

Free Organic Compost Giveaway
Saturday, May 6, 9 am to 12 pm (or until the pile is gone) at 425 Morris St., Sebastopol. Behind the Community Center Youth Annex. Free.
Applying compost is one of many things you can do for the climate; it helps build soil health while retaining water! Bring: shovels, buckets or bags, tarps, gloves, and/or pick-up truck. Rialto's Free Family Matinee: The Neverending Story

On his way to school, Bastian ducks into a bookstore to avoid bullies. Sneaking away with a book called “The Neverending Story,” Bastian begins reading it in the school attic. The novel is about Fantasia, a fantasy land threatened by “The Nothing,” a darkness that destroys everything it touches. The kingdom needs the help of a human child to survive, and as Bastian reads the book he realizes that child might be him.
Ecoprinting with Leaves
Sunday, May 7, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Vitality Center, 6914 Sebastopol Ave., Sebastopol. $110.
This four-hour workshop led by educator and natural dyer Lisa Rogers will explore the basics of ecoprinting with leaves. This workshop will cover different techniques, and participants will create their leaf print designs on paper and a piece of silk, which can be used as a scarf, runner or wall hanging. Get tickets.
Wine Tasting and Bouquet Making for Mother’s Day
