Narcan Training and Fentanyl Awareness
Monday, Oct. 28, 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, at the Analy Theater at Analy High School in Sebastopol. Free.
What’s really scary these days? Fentanyl. In this training you will learn what Narcan is and how it works, basic harm reduction strategies, what fentanyl is and its impact on overdose rates. You will also learn how to recognize an opioid overdose and be able to confidently respond in a timely and appropriate way.
Sebastopol Hiroshima Peace Trees
Tuesday, Oct. 29, 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm, at Sebastopol Community Cultural Center, 390 Morris St., Sebastopol. Free.
The Peace Crane Project of Sonoma County, a local anti-nuclear group, invites you to attend the planting of two Ginkgo Biloba trees at the Sebastopol Community Cultural Center Youth Annex. The planting begins at 3:30 pm and the 30-minute ceremony will start at 4 pm. The two Ginkgo Biloba trees to be planted were grown from seeds of a tree that survived when the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945. Learn more.
Grange Harvest Meal and Pomo Talk
Tuesday, Oct. 29, 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, at the Sebastopol Grange, 6000 Sebastopol Road (Hwy. 12), Sebastopol. $10.
Members of the Grange Virtual Farm will cook and serve a harvest meal of homemade butternut squash lasagna with heirloom tomato sauce and fruit crisp, made from produce from members’ gardens (vegan and gluten-free options provided). Potluck items to bring: dinnerware, appetizers, salads, or desserts (other than fruit crisp). The presentation that evening will be about the Pomo tribe.
Ghastly Ghostly Poetry Reading and Open Mic
Wednesday, Oct. 30, 7 pm to 9 pm, at North Bay Letterpress Arts, 925-d Gravenstein Hwy S, Sebastopol. Free.
Dust off your ghostliest or ghastliest poems and prose and join us this Wednesday 7-9 pm for a reading and open mic at NBLA! Costumes encouraged! Don't miss this chance to celebrate the eerie and the enchanting. Free and open to the public.
Film and director Q&A: Werewolf Serenade
Wednesday, Oct. 30, 7 pm, at Rialto Cinemas, 6868 McKinley St., Sebastopol. $15.25.
Werewolf Serenade is a campy, low-budget indie dramedy about a middle-aged couple navigating the humorous challenges of transforming into werewolves. Q&A with director Daedalus Howell to follow the film. Werewolf Serenade is the second feature film from the married filmmaking team of producer and production designer Kary Hess and writer-director Daedalus Howell. Get tickets.
Trick or Treat on Main Street and Pet Costume Party in the Square
Thursday, Oct. 31, 11 am to 5 pm, on Main Street in downtown Sebastopol. Pet Costume Party from 2 pm to 3 pm. Free.
Sebastopol’s downtown businesses will give out candy to trick-or-treaters in costume all day. There will also be a pet costume party in the Sebastopol Town Square from 2 pm to 3 pm. So dress up Fido and get on down there.
Trick or Treat in Ives Park
Thursday, Oct. 31, 4 pm to 8 pm, in Ives Park. Free.
This year the Sebastopol Kiwanis Club (the same folks who bring you the annual Easter Egg Hunt and July 3rd Fireworks) is having a Halloween event in Ives Park. Costume parade and contest at 6:30 pm. Families and organizations will have decorated booths and will be giving out candy. The Sebastopol Times will be there. Come see us!
The Great Pumpkin Party
Thursday, Oct. 31, 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, at Sebastopol Christian Church, 7433 Bodega Ave., Sebastopol. Free.
Come join Sebastopol Christian Church for a safe, family-friendly event, including a carnival with prizes, free food and a family photo booth.
Halloween Gathering and Street Party (LGBTQ+ and allies)
Thursday, Oct. 31, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, Sebastopol Area Senior Center, 167 North High St., Sebastopol. Free.
Inviting LGBT family, friends and all allies! Hosted by Scotty King, LGBT Liaison, Rainbow Connection of the Sebastopol Senior Center. At 6:30 pm, meet outside the Sebastopol Library. Dance to the best of the Halloween Dance songs (Monster Mash, Addams Family, Time Warp, Ghostbusters, I Put a Spell on You, Werewolves of London, etc). At 7:30 pm, walk together (4 blocks) to the Halloween Street Party on Florence Ave.

The Sebastopol Service and Action Coalition is a broad coalition of organizations that work toward the common good.
Chimera First Friday Open House
Friday, Nov. 1, 5 pm to 8 pm, at Chimera Arts and Maker Space, 6791 Sebastopol Ave., Sebastopol. Free.
At their First Friday events, Chimera opens its doors to let you check out what they are all about. Stop by to meet your local community of makers, get a tour of the facility, enjoy some fine libations and food, and hear some great local music. You can also have some fun with hands-on activities and live demonstrations. Admission, demonstrations, tours and music are all free. Beer, wine and food are offered at a modest price.
Wine, Beer and Bites
Saturday, Nov. 2, 4 pm to 7 pm, Sebastopol Community Cultural Center, 390 Morris St., Sebastopol.
Mix and mingle at this fun and relaxed Happy Hour event in support of the Rotary Club of Sebastopol. Bring friends with you and be ready to meet new friends also. Enjoy music by Standard Blue Trio while you wander and chat and taste the appetizers and beverages. Wine, beer, cider and even a specialty cocktail will be offered. Lots to do in this wonderful town! However the Oak Walk actually took place last Saturday. It was great, and very informative.
