Science Buzz Café—The Master Balancer: Restoration with Water
Monday, Nov. 24, 6 pm, at HopMonk (in the Abbey), 230 Petaluma Ave., Sebastopol. $10.
A talk by Ethan Hirsch-Tauber, founder and lead technician at The Water Folk, who says that watershed restoration can play a key role in mitigating and even reversing climate change. He will discuss the role that water plays in global climate and local ecosystem health and propose actionable, human-scale solutions for our greatest planetary dilemma.
Community Food Drive
Tuesday, Nov. 25, and Dec. 16, 10 am to 6 pm, at the Sebastopol Grange Hall, 6000 Sebastopol Ave. (Hwy. 12), Sebastopol.
Join the Sebastopol Grange in a community-wide effort to help our hungry neighbors. The Sebastopol Grange will be hosting a food drive for Redwood Empire Food Bank, which supplies food directly to residents, as well as supplying food items to smaller food pantries. Please join us in donating food or money so that people in our community have food for their families this fall and beyond. The most needed items are canned tuna, canned chicken, peanut butter, rice, pasta, oats, dry beans and low sugar cereal. (No glass, no outdated items.)
Kabaka Pyramid & The Bebble Rockers

See Grammy Award-winner Kabaka Pyramid and his band The Bebble Rockers. A leading voice of the Reggae Revival movement, he is known for blending reggae, hip hop, and dancehall with powerful, conscious lyrics. He will be joined by local, rising hip-hop artist LaiddBackZach and emcee and DJ, Konnex. Get tickets.
Sebastopol Grange General Meeting & Potluck
Tuesday, Nov. 25, 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, at the Sebastopol Grange, 6000 Sebastopol Ave. (Hwy. 12), Sebastopol. $10.
Everyone is invited to join Grangers and friends at our monthly general meeting. Come for social time starting at 5:30 pm, followed by a potluck dinner and music. Please bring food to share (lovingly labeled) and your own dishes and utensils. Ceylan Crow, artist and Tai Chi instructor, will give a brief history of Tai Chi then run a short demo so folks can get a feel for gentle movement that builds posture, balance, and stability on strong legs. Participation is encouraged.
Free Thanksgiving Pranayama & Yoga Nidra
Thursday, Nov. 27, 9 am to 10:40 am, at Bliss Organic Day Spa, 186 N. Main St., Sebastopol. Free.
Gather Thanksgiving morning for a free Pranayama & Yoga Nidra session in the lounge at Bliss Organic Day Spa—same floor as Soft Medicine Loft, next to the Bliss Bath House. Start your morning calm and refreshed before your festivities or quiet self-care day off. We’ll begin at 9 am and start with 30 minutes of Pranayama, take a 10-minute break and be guided into Yoga Nidra at 9:40 am (approximately one hour). Join one or both classes. Space is limited – RSVP required. Please practice on an empty stomach (morning beverage OK, but please take at least an hour before class). Sebastopol Library closure days this week
The Sebastopol Library will close early on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 6 pm, and will be closed completely on Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28.
Gifted: EDM Celebration & Toy Drive
Friday, Nov. 28, 6 pm to 10 pm, at the Sebastopol Community Cultural Center, 390 Morris St., Sebastopol. $25.
Bring the whole family and come out to dance to EDM (Electronic Dance Music). There will be local vendors on site for an opportunity to do a little holiday shopping. Also bring toys and necessities to donate for families in need. Proceeds from this event will go to supporting the Sebastopol Community Cultural Center youth programs. Get tickets.
