Medicare Today: What Needs to Change?

Two facilitators from the Healthcare for All Working Group, a Sonoma County nonprofit dedicated to universal healthcare, will lead this interactive discussion where your experiences and ideas guide the conversation. Explore real experiences with Medicare, discuss what improvements are most needed, and learn about potential solutions being considered at the state and national levels. Registration required. Irish Music Class for All Instruments

Free Tax Preparation

AARP Tax-Aide will be providing free tax preparation on Tuesdays beginning Feb. 3 through April 14. You do not need to be a senior or a member of AARP to use our service. Learning Laguna Docent Training Orientation #2
Tuesday, Feb. 10, 10 am to 12 pm, at the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation, 900 Sanford Road, Santa Rosa. Free.
Become a docent and co-lead classroom visits and field trips for school children so they can learn about and connect to their home watershed. Learning Laguna Docents are trained volunteers who teach the Learning Laguna school program in 2nd-4th grade classrooms throughout the Laguna de Santa Rosa watershed and during student field trips to Laguna preserves. Studio Ghibli Film Club for Teens: Ponyo

Come to the library for a magical journey into the world of Studio Ghibli. The library is hosting a special series of screenings featuring beloved animated classics from the legendary Japanese studio. Snacks provided. Grades 7-12. This week’s film is Ponyo (2008), rated G, 1h 41m. A five-year-old boy develops a relationship with Ponyo, a young goldfish princess who longs to become a human after falling in love with him.
Mend & Befriend
Tuesday, Feb. 10, 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, at Sebastopol Grange, 6000 Sebastopol Road (Hwy. 12), Sebastopol. Free.
Everyone is invited to socialize while mending or crafting at Mend & Befriend. Gather at the Grange to mend and craft while making new friends. Join in at our hand-craft circle every other month. Learn new skills, get help with a project, and strengthen our community one stitch at a time. Each event will include a clothes swap/ fabric swap.
Sebastopol Planning Commission
Tuesday, Feb. 10, 6 pm, at the Sebastopol Youth Annex, 425 Morris St., Sebastopol. Free.
The planning commission will identify one of four options for the Caltrans Sustainable Transportation Grant “Reimaging the Core” to recommend to the City Council for its March 3 meeting. Once the preferred alternative is agreed upon, the consultant will develop conceptual design plans, a draft, and a final report for the Planning Commission and City Council in April 2026. The planning commission will also discuss of creation of Parks Commission Ad Hoc Committee at their Feb. 10 meeting. See agenda and documentation.
Intergenerational Conversations

Are you interested in speaking with teens, sharing your knowledge and getting a fresh perspective? In collaboration with Gravenstein Health Action Coalition, Sebastopol Area Senior Center and Analy High School will bring together seniors and teens for discussion on varied topics. Peacetown Presents: 3 Acre Holler

3 Acre Holler is singer Cori Wood and singer/multi-instrumentalist Layne Bowen. The band derives its name from Cori’s family property near Forestville. Cori and Layne have played in a variety of bands together in Northern California. They are drawn to Appalachian inspired material, particularly those songs with darker themes.
Learn to Square Dance

Death Medicine: An open mic exploration of death and grief

This event is organized by The Luminous Threshold Collective, a group of life doulas, death midwives, deathcare workers, deathwalkers or deathtenders. Come to the Sebastopol Library and meet the artists of Circle of Six, whose art exhibit, “Celebrate!”, is on display in the library Forum Room from now through March 14. The Circle of Six began as an art critique group, coming together to support and inspire each other in their individual creations. They so enjoyed and benefited from this process that they decided to exhibit as a collective.
