PULSE Dance Party

Kick off a fresh season of PULSE Partner Dances at "The Loft" at Soft Medicine Sanctuary. Carbon Conversations: Compost as a Climate Solution

Xinci Tan, Organics Program Manager at Zero Waste Sonoma, will share the ins and outs of composting in Sonoma County. Learn of the role of compost in reducing food waste, building healthy soil, and its role in reducing and sequestering carbon emissions. We’ll hear about the current municipal compost system and efforts to restore capacity in our county. Several strategies for back-yard composting will be shared by local folks. Learn more.
Fall Introduction to Weaving
Thursdays, Oct. 5-26, 9:30 am to 1 pm, at Sebastopol Center for the Arts, 282 S. High St., Sebastopol. 4 Sessions for $175.
A four-session class to experience the full weaving process on a four-shaft loom. Students will learn all the steps involved in basic weaving, from designing to finishing, and proudly accomplish your very own handwoven scarf. Family Fun: Monster Makers with Clay

Transform clay into a one-of-a-kind little friend, using your imagination and your sense of humor! This class is suitable for ages 6 to adult. For children under the age of 10, we recommend having an older sibling or adult register to join us and make a monster, too. Reserve your spot.
CircleSing Sebastopol

Healthy Hustle Circuit Training at Ragle Park
Saturday, Oct. 7, 9 am to 10 am at Ragle Ranch Regional Park (Meet at the Lions Grove/Redwood Grove Group Picnic Area parking lot.) $15.
Looking for a good workout? Come out to Ragle Ranch and be supported towards health and wellness. With a 12-station circuit, we’ll focus on upper body, core, lower body and cardio to address physical fitness and mental and emotional wellness. Exercising outdoors offers fresh air and beautiful views while building a team of support and having fun! This is a mixed-level class. Family-friendly garden work party. Come support or learn how to prepare garden beds and use a ‘green mulch.' No experience needed. Kids welcome to participate with their grown person. See ‘The Birds’ at the Sebastopol Library

Celebrate the 60th anniversary of ‘The Birds.’ Free popcorn and related library materials to check out. The Birds is a 1963 American horror-thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Loosely based on the 1952 short story of the same name by Daphne du Maurier, it focuses on a series of sudden and unexplained violent bird attacks on the people of Bodega Bay, California, over the course of a few days. Inspired by Johann Hari's "Stolen Focus: Why You Can’t Pay Attention - and How to Think Deeply Again," facilitator Laura Hagar Rush will host 3 one-hour sessions at the Sebastopol Library where people come together to discuss solutions to reclaiming our focus and then read silently for 45 minutes in a phone-free environment. Copies of Hari’s book will be made available by the library for those that wish to read it.
