The (possibly) final Sebastopol Walks: Walk, Talk and Picnic
Saturday, Nov. 22, 9 am. Meet at the Sebastopol Plaza. Free.
It’s been a wonderful 17 years exploring the many interesting facets of Sebastopol, but Simon Lowings (organizer), Gary Morgret (graphics) and Richard Nichols (email list and co-founder with Sarah Gurney) are retiring, and unless some folks step up to coordinate the walks and provide the newsletters, November will be the last walk. If you would like to see the walks continue and are interested in volunteering, please contact Simon at simonlowings@gmail.com. We will be happy to help you get oriented. For the final walk, we will be exploring some of the many locations we’ve visited in the past. We’ll stop at Ragle Park for a picnic. Bring your own brown bag lunch and maybe some goodies to share (chocolate? cookies?).

Sebastopol California has some of the most unique fungi on the continent, but they only bloom for a couple months in the fall. From red speckled amanitas the size of dinner plates to puffballs the size of a wine bottle, our farmstead looks like Jurassic Park. Join mycologist Carter Hays in exploring the fascinating life cycles of these fungi, their unique symbiotic relationships with the native trees, and how they get so big! A few tickets left. Get tickets for the 11 am tour. Get tickets for the 1:30 am tour.
