You never know what you'll find in The Closet, part 2
Like Laguna High School, Analy now has a clothing closet for its students
In December, Mark Fernquest wrote about the new clothing closet at Laguna High School in Forestville, a kind of thrift-store for students. It is meant to help some of students who struggle to afford clothing for school but it’s become much more than just a store. It becomes a hangout. Now, the Analy Closet has opened on the campus.
These closets have been a special project for WSCUHSD Board President Julie Aiello. She credits Jennifer Roventini and Bonnie Bowen who both put in “a lot of time transforming this tiny space into a mini boutique.” Jennifer is a parent of two Analy students and one graduate. Bonnie Bowen is a retired teacher and parent of two El Molino graduates.
The students can visit The Closet through the Wellness Center to get clothes, shoes, and personal items when they need something. “One of us will be at The Analy Closet and open it up every Wednesday for students to browse, shop, or swap clothing,” said Julie. “Everything is free! Items are donated by the community.”

The Laguna Closet, which is located in an empty classroom, is open every Tuesday and Thursday and as needed. The Laguna Closet was started with a grant from the Sebastopol Kiwanis Club and the Analy Closet received a grant from Sebastopol Rotary.
I asked if she needs contributions of clothing. Julie discourages people from dropping off bags of unwanted clothes. “The two closets will accept like-new, teen-appropriate clothing, which can be dropped of at the Analy Wellness Center or at the Laguna office.” “Gift cards that can be used for buying clothes are also appreciated,” said Julie.
