What an inspiring story. A timely story for me at a point in my life ready for such reflection. Not that I will follow his extreme direction but another chance to reflect on my own. Thank you.

I am a climate change advocate and Rob used to show up in my instagram feed. I admire his stand to live lightly on the earth. He takes that farther than Americans can imagine ; he lives more like the few indigenous peoples still left on earth. I am inspired by him although I can't imagine doing so myself. I choose to live beneath my means so I can donate to bring Climate Restoration into existence. My nonprofit group I support is called Foundation 4 Climate Restoration. The very first grassroots team started here in this county. Our goal is to get CO2 levels down from 421 parts per million in the atmosphere and back to the under 300 parts per million we had before the industrial revolution. We want to get back to the atmospheric levels of CO2 humans ;and all life on earth with us) flourished in, said another way.

I got to spend three quiet rainy days with him indoors as the atmospheric River lashed our coast. His energy kept bringing to mind people like Gandhi or Fred Rogers: a fellow traveler with a strong commitment to integrity and a honed mission and purpose in life.
