Thanks for covering this. The big story, for Gratonites, is Two Crows Development and their Builder's Remedy Permit application to put in either 40 tiny homes or trailers in a 1.9 acre lot at the corner of Graton Rd and 116. Other than the traffic and access problems, the big one is there is no municipal water in Graton. . .the water for 80 new residents would have to come from the same shrinking water table the residents all share. You might want to contact us and do another story.
Hi Walt-Yes, I mentioned that briefly in the section under the builders’ remedy. I plan to do a separate story on it. I’d love to talk with you about it. You can call me at 707-322-8696. I’ll be in my office tomorrow during the day.
While this appears to be pretty much a copy of the article that appeared in the Press Democrat last week, thanks for giving it another airing. One way you could have embellished it for West County rteaders is to point out the specific locations for the Forestville-Guerneville proposals. While the necessity to use groundwater seems to be a negative for the Graton trailer park, I'd rather see ground water going to residents (as it already does for those of us in Sebastopol) than vineyards.
This isn’t a copy of anything. I put several weeks into researching and writing this and watching first the planning commission meeting and then this section of the supervisor’s meeting (several times). It involved reading and parsing a huge document with multiple appendices. It was a difficult issue to get my head around. So watch it when you use words like “copying.” Them’s fightin’ words in this business. However, your suggestion that I list properties is a good one. I’ll do that after I re-confirm the list with the planning department.
See newly added list of west county properties from the site index of the Housing Element at the end of the article. That was a great suggestion! Thanks, Walter.
Laura, you may want to double check the meaning of "resources" in the Housing Element Report. It was a surprise to many, including Supervisors Hopkins and Coursey, that resources for this purpose is only three measures; community household income. education levels and evioronmental impacts. Strangely it had nothing to do with resources that many of us would assume meant things like stores, transit, jobs etc.
Thanks for this. I'll ask about that. That would explain why two parts of Forestville just five minutes apart are considered differently resourced--something Lynda Hopkins asked about.

My apologies - "copy" was a very poor word choice.

You are absolutely right on that. It's been fixed. Thanks!
