RoundUp: Summer winds down
SW100 grant deadline approaches, caroling in August, a midnight snack in Forestville and more

SW100 Giving Circle grant application deadline is this Thursday, August 21
The SW100 Giving Circle had a brunch yesterday for members and would-be members. The group, which started this spring, has raised almost $400,000. They released their first grant application at the end of July, and the deadline is fast approaching.
Local nonprofits must submit their application online by Thursday, Aug. 21, by 5 pm.
For comprehensive guidelines, application forms and important deadlines, visit sw100.org.
Thus far, over 40 applications from local nonprofits have been submitted.
The SW100 Grant Committee will do an initial winnowing and then present a selection of grant applicants to the membership for their vote. If you join before Sept. 1, you can vote online from 9/29 - 10/11. Winners will be announced at the member meeting on October 25 at the Balletto Event Center.
SW100 is still accepting new members. Join now.
Caroling starts in August
The Old World Carolers are once again putting out the call for local singers who’d like to participate in this fine old Sebastopol tradition. The Old World Carolers is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Auditions are going on now, and practice for this year’s performance season start on Thursday, August 21. For more information, contact Rebecca Dwan at info@traditionalfun.org. (See our article on the group from last year.)
And in the wilds of Forestville
Heather Capps’ wildlife camera caught a mountain lion taking down one of their sheep. “Get your critters inside!” she wrote on Nextdoor. “A lion just took out one of our sheep tonight!” Capps doesn’t begrudge the mountain lion its dinner, but she has been working with Quinton Martins of True Wild to minimize the predation.
Hey, summer, don’t let the door hit you on your way out…
At least one store in town, Hospice Thrift, is done with summer. What do you think? Too soon? Or are you ready to start planning for Halloween?

Want to say I am so excited about the Academy of Innovative Arts. Bravo Bravo Bravo Dale and all of those who worked on it. First really good "innovative" model I have seen in a long time. I would love for your paper to write more about this.
And I hope the school will include mixed media in the arts. Wonderful innovations happening there now. Also english will include poetry. Me being a poet and a poet publisher you can understand. So many fine poets in the area.
Be well and thank you thank you thank you for doing this. Wow a High School that students could really love.
