Irish Music for All Instruments Class

Tuesdays are always lively and free at Open Mic with Ceni in the Abbey at HopMonk Sebastopol. Hear incredible local talent and be among the first to hear up-and-coming acts. Many bands have formed at this weekly event, and Ceni strives to promote a respectful and supportive musical community. In fact, the first Tuesday of every month will be loosely dedicated to musicians actively looking to join or create bands. (Musicians wanting to play: signups are by email only. Day of Remembrance: Neighbors Not Enemies
Wednesday, Feb. 19, 4 pm to 7 pm, Analy High School Library, 6950 Analy Ave., Sebastopol. Free.
“Day of Remembrance: Neighbors Not Enemies” commemorates the 83rd anniversary of the 1942 signing of Executive Order 9066 by President Roosevelt which authorized the forced removal and incarceration of Americans of Japanese descent during WWII. The event celebrates the unveiling of a mural by a young artist, Owen Foley, which bears witness to Sebastopol’s complex relationship with this history. The event features a presentation on WWII hero Pete Masuoka, by Bruce Shimzu of the Sonoma County Japanese American Citizens League, and presents a short film about the high school students who protected the Enmanji Buddhist Temple during WWII, “Leap of Faith,” with filmmaker Lina Hoshino. This event is open to the public and free of charge. Co-hosted by Sebastopol World Friends and the Analy High School Ethnic Studies Class and Globally Proficient Scholars.
